Why not add a second blackout button above the current one in the show page that toggles the blackout. I am a sound tech and will be mixing while I run lights, having to hold down blackout is great when I want to operate lights. If I need to step away from lighting for a second or two, it would be great to have a toggle function

I'm also a sound tech and came here to ask for something similar. I can't have the lights on between tech and show start, and I would rather not change my global brightness after deciding what it should be.
I think the blackout button should latch after you have held it down for 1500ms, then you have to tap on it to clear it.
