I have some fixtures that I would like to control globally, independent of any currently running cue.
One example would be front wash lights that don't normally change and shouldn't be affected by normal cue transitions, but still need the ability to respond to other controls like blackout, strobe, effect, etc.
Doing this as part of normal cues is very difficult and when a transition is desired for other lights it ruins the static look of the front wash.

Cool ok that might make the most sense in the medium term. Thanks for your engagement with this! I'll continue to think on it.

I'm not sure how a separate show would help, I need to run front lights all the time.
Using an FX palette doesn't work because they turn off momentarily when you switch cues, which looks pretty bad when you move to a chorus or bridge cue.
I don't want to waste a normal fixture group on lights that almost never change, but will sometimes have an occasional effect like turning them off for strobes or a backlit shadow. Being able to control the overall brightness along with the other lights is nice too.
Having more fixture groups would help, but it is annoying to have to set it up the same way so many times to all of our existing cues.
Maybe allowing for both additional groups and a copy/paste of a single group pattern across many cues at once would work?

Hi Byron!
Just to elaborate, it sounds like what you would like is to be able to run some fixture groups in a separate show, would that suit this use case? This is likely not going to be implemented soon. I would recomment potentially trying out static overrides with fx palettes, that might be an interim solution.
best,
Gabby
