I’m pretty new to DMX and just got the maestro. I’ve been playing around with it trying to get familiar. I play in live bands and only have a few fixtures. 6 Ape Labs Maxi 2.0 and 2 Ape Labs Can 2.0. For now the Maxis are all on primary and the cans are on secondary. I’ve yet to figure out if it’s really necessary to separate them out like that but the cans will be uplighting while the maxis will be used to light the band. Once I get a grip on this I’ll be moving on to controlling it all with midi.
The maxis have a fairly narrow beam angle (15degrees) so I can sort of use them as spots. I’ve figured out that if I go into snapshots, I can dim 5 of the 6 lights to create a single spotlight snap shot. I just don’t know the easiest way to add a second spotlight without dimming the first.
For example, song starts and I have only a single light on the Keyboard player, then the singer starts so I want to add a second spot. Is the only way, to make a snapshot that has the 2 lights with dimmers on full and the other 4 on zero? The problem is, I might want to something similar with guitar and drums and then maybe bring in the bass player etc. you can see that the number of combinations of snapshots will soon add up.

Yup, I think what you'll want to do is make multiple snapshots!
First snapshot: single light on the keyboard player
Second snapshot: Keyboard and singer
etc..
Not sure if there's a simpler way, if each setting is both unique and specific.
Hope this helps! Welcome to MeastroDMX :D
