Hello MaestroDMX Team,

I’d love to submit a feature request for a professional rackmount version of the MaestroDMX controller, tentatively called MaestroDMX Pro.

The standard MaestroDMX is an excellent and intuitive controller, and I believe there is a strong opportunity for a Pro model designed for permanent installs, touring racks, and larger productions that require multiple universes and more robust physical connectivity.

Concept: MaestroDMX Pro (1RU Rackmount)

A 1RU rackmount unit with all the current MaestroDMX functionality, plus expanded output and professional connectors.

Core Features

  • Multi-universe output via Art-Net and sACN
    • Support for multiple DMX universes over Ethernet
    • Ideal for medium to large lighting rigs and distributed DMX networks
  • Rear panel professional I/O
    • DMX Output:
      • 1x 5-pin XLR DMX output
    • Network:
      • 2x EtherCON RJ45 ports
        • One for control/network access
        • One dedicated to Art-Net/sACN output
    • Audio Inputs:
      • 2x 3-pin XLR female connectors (stereo audio input)
    • Power:
      • PowerCON True1 input
  • Rack-friendly design
    • All connectors on the rear panel
    • Clean front panel with branding and status LEDs
    • Designed to live permanently in a lighting or AV rack

Use Cases

  • Schools and performance venues with installed lighting systems
  • Touring rigs and portable show racks
  • Productions requiring multiple DMX universes without external gateways
  • Users who want MaestroDMX simplicity in a professional hardware format

This would allow MaestroDMX to scale from small setups into more demanding professional environments while preserving its greatest strength, which is ease of use and reliability.

I believe a MaestroDMX Pro would be extremely attractive to:

  • Theatrical and live event professionals
  • Educational institutions
  • Houses of worship
  • Small to mid-size production companies

Thank you for building such a great product and for considering this idea. I would be excited to see MaestroDMX expand into a Pro hardware platform.

Best regards

In addition to Mgodlewski, I would suggest adding Thru connections to the audio inputs.

Audio Thru:

  • 2x 3-pin XLR male connectors (transmit balanced audio signal)

The audio input should be galvanically isolated.

In addition, a device that functions as a standalone lighting control console would be very interesting. With faders and buttons and an integrated touchscreen.
