ArtNET unicast or multicast? No real-time STROBE/BLINDER with many ArtNET Nodes possible

I'm using WLED as base for my own LED-Pixel Sticks. So i have 8 Sticks with 111 channels each. So i use the 2nd Universe only for these Sticks 1-4, 5-8 have same start adresses.
As i have to set up one ArtNET-node per receiver, i has set in Maestro DMX 1.5 all 8 IPs of each Stick.

So i think, that Maestro sends the universe-data 8 times via unicast. From other software-solutions (DMXControl) i know multicast without a speacial receiver-IP set at the sender. So all Nodes in the same subnet can receive this universe and take their dedicated channel-data.

This would be better and could stabilize the "real-time" using of STROBE, BLINDER usw.

In my actual setup all runs over a FritzBox-Router and only the maestro is connected per ETH cable.

ChatGPT says, i should use a special WLAN-AP only for the ArtNET Nodes (Sticks) and the MAESTRO in a separate subnet , because a home-router like a Fritzbox could have problems with this much unicast packets via WLAN to the Nodes.

Does the Maestro developers see any chance to get a multicast-send option?
This behavior i will check next days.

Hi Christian,

Thanks for your message. Unfortunately, Maestro does not support Multicast at the moment; however, in the future we may implement SACN, which would support Multicast.

take care
