Make Maestro Software Open Source / Modular

I appreciate the amazing support you provide through office hours, but I'm worried about the direction of the product. The delays in getting updates and new features are becoming a real concern, and I can feel the community's enthusiasm starting to fade.

Have you thought about making Maestro open source? Or at minimum, releasing an API or integration guide?

With AI tools evolving so quickly, some folks may be able to quickly provide some features and unlock tons of possibilities and get the community re-engaged if there was something we could build against.

Right now, we're working around limitations rather than building on strengths—and that's not sustainable long-term in my opinion. I'm just looking for some options. I recently just built a system for our Live Band Karaoke which integrates with all kinds of components because of open standards.

Hiya!

Even though we do not officially support this, some users are using the existing REST API to build their own apps. We are considering, at some point in the future, official REST API support.

+100!

I'd love to contribute to the codebase.

But it would mean to choose a license which prevents competitors to "steal" the investments done so far.

Or as you said, at least have some REST APIs to build from there while keeping the internals closed source.

Not an easy task nor an easy decision.
